The NWRFC updated its 120-day forecast this evening.
Energy Scorecard
- Jan – Up 850 aMW; just when you thought it couldn’t get any uglier, it just got 850 aMW more hideous
- Feb – Down 350 aMW; a respite for the longs
- Mar – Up 1200 aMW; oh my!
- Apr – Down 900 aMW; huh?
- May – Up 1000 aMW; ouch, that’s like a nuke
Observations:
- WY17 is above normal until March 25
- The goofy cuts at the end of March have been cut
- Mid Feb took a big haircut, rightly so, in our opinion
- From Mar 31 until end of forecast (May 9) energy just keeps piling up; we don’t see this trend reversing itself until the second week of June; this is a big water year and growing each week
This plots the same week’s forecast as WY17 for each of the last four water years. Its big in the front, big in the back, why isn’t it big in April?
