Product Update – Bookmarks is Live!

Good Afternoon,

I am pleased to announce the Ansergy Bookmarks are now live and ready to be used.  We were forced to switch developers in mid-stream which set us back several weeks but in the end it was the right call as we now have a feature-rich tool that will make running reports much easier.

When you login you will note two changes to the site:

  1. In the upper right of the menu bar there is a “Yellow Star”; clicking this within any report will open the “Create Bookmarks” interface
  2. On the left you will see the word “Bookmarks” with a small pencil next to it.  After you create a bookmark it will be stored here.  The “Pencil” allows you to edit, rename, delete, and reorganize (drag and drop).

Instructions to Create a Bookmark

  1. Create Report –  First customize the report you wish to save.  Most of the possible customizations you can make will be captured in the bookmark; if there are any you find that aren’t captured let us know and we’ll add those.  Once you have the report exactly how you want it click the “Star” in the menu
  2. Click Star to open Create Bookmark Interface
    1. 000_create0
    2. Enter the name you want associated with this bookmark (you will be able to change the name at any time)
    3. Enter a new Folder Name or pull-down and select an existing folder name
    4. Hit Submit

NOTE: the existing report will still be on the screen so you can customize it again and create a new bookmark from the same table but you must give the new bookmark a new and unique name.

Viewing Your Bookmarks

I’ve made most of my bookmarks and have about 50 organized into eight folders:

NOTE: We will be adding a “Bookmark Cloner” to the site that will allow ADMIN to clone someone’s bookmarks to another person’s account.  If anyone wants mine let me know.

All bookmarks folders are contracted in the default view, to see what is inside a folder click once.  I currently have 12 Hydro reports, Single Click the report you want to view.  That report will then be displayed with the exact settings you used when you created the report.

If you want to modify an already saved bookmark, or use it as a template, just make the changes to the report and click the star but be sure to give it a new name.

Editing Existing Bookmarks

Next to the title “Bookmarks” is a green pencil, click this to open the Manage Bookmark Interface.

Clicking the “pencil” opens up the Manage Bookmarks Interface:

From this screen you can do the following

  1. rename a bookmark
    1. Find the bookmark and click the “pencil” to the right
      1. 000_manage0a
      2. Type in the new name and hit enter
  2. Delete a Bookmark
    1. Click the “X” next to the pencil, the bookmark will be deleted
  3. Reorganize the Bookmarks
    1. Next to each folder and bookmark is a “3 Line Horizontal  Icon”
      1. 000_manage0b
      2. Click that icon and drag your bookmark to the order you want it;
      3. Do the same for Folders
        1. NOTE: we are going to show all folders in collapsed view by default to make re-ordering folders easier, for now you just drag the entire folder to where you want it

Once you are done you can either click out of the manager (click any space on your screen and the interface goes away, or click the “X” in the upper right corner.

NOTE:  Sometimes you must hit the HOME Menu Item to see the changes after re-ordering the folders.

Future Development

We have already comenced the next stages of our Bookmark project and expect to roll out “Scheduled Delivery” in two weeks.  With this feature you will be able to have one or more of your bookmarks emailed to your account based upon the following paramters:

  • Day of Week (Mon, Tue, Wed …Sun)
  • Hour of Day (HE01, HE02,….HE24)
  • Body – add any text and determine if you want the body to include a screen shot of your report (jpg or pdf)
  • Subject – any subject of your choice
  • Attachment
    • xls
    • csv
    • pdf
    • jpg

We are excited about this new feature and think you will be too if you give it a shot.  98% of the tediousness of creating reports has been eliminated.  If you need help with this feature, or you’d like to get a copy of my bookmarks, drop me a note.
