At the request of a company undergoing their Ansergy Trial, we have resurrected our Slice Forecast. For those of you who weren’t users, we will briefly describe the product.
Ansergy forecasts the hydro energy associated with BPA’s Slice Projects:
Our hydro energy forecasts are generated hourly at a “Hydro Basin” level. The ratio of SLICE to non-Slice is then applied to each Hydro Basin to arrive at the Slice equivalent. This forecast is updated several times each day to incorporate changing snow levels, the RFC’s ten-day outlook, and once a week we use the RFC’s 120 days. The 120 day is phased out beyond day 60 by merging our internal water supply-driven flow forecast for the balance of the water year.
We are presenting two versions of the SLICE forecast:
Access the forecast by selecting Fundamentals / Hydro / Water Supply / Slice Hourly – see the image above.
The default view is in total, all plants aggregated by hour; however, you can also see the Slice energy forecast by project.
As with all of our reports, you can zoom into specific hours or disable historical projections. We include four forecasts in each report:
- Current
- Yesterday
- One Week back
- Two weeks back
Click the legend to disable prior runs; click inside the zoom feature and drag and drop to zoom into specific periods. Save any setting via the bookmarks. The report would be interesting to view multiple plants in a dashboard – let us know if you’d like help making one.
To access the Daily Slice forecast just click the link above title “Daily”:
Daily is offered at either on or off peak; if anyone would like, we can add a third – average energy. The same plants are reported in daily and both default to Total. Daily also has the zoom feature:
Note the forecast doesn’t change beyond 9/30 …end of water year and we use “climo.”
