Product Update – Capacity Changes

Greetings,

Ansergy has added a new report on its website that summarizes changes to the EIA Generating Capacity outlook. You can find the data at:

Fundamentals / Generation / Capacity Changes

There are two reports; Planned and Retirements. Both report the changes from the prior month. Ansergy has been using this data for the last year, but several clients requested we add to the site.

Planned Capacity

Since this is the “Change” in the capacity, we are only reporting what is different in the current month. I’ll break out the above table into two for ease of reading:

Part One

Part Two:

Note that most plants have two records: Current and Prior; these reflect the most recent EIA Update (Current) and the Prior Month Update (Prior).

Example 1:

The Highland Park Project was shifted back two years and derated by 48 MW.

Example 2:

The Big Timber Wind Farm was included because its status changed from “Planned” to “Under Construction.”

Example 3:

The above example is limited to just a change in the Owner’s name.

In some cases, you will see only a “Prior” or only a “Current. The former means the plant was removed from the Planned Capacity table; the latter means this is a new generator that was not in the EIA’s database in the prior month.

Please log the report to download the entire change table. You can get the capacity data from EIA, or you can request ours which includes numerous other field mappings.
